Exploring career opportunities in Southeast Asia

On 28^th March, the SP Jain Global’s Singapore campus hosted a ‘Fireside Chat’ for the MGB-GMBA February 2025 cohort. This session involved discussions where industry leaders shared their experiences and advice to help students understand and navigate career opportunities in Singapore and Southeast Asia.

The event featured a distinguished panel of industry leaders, including Biswaroop Barua, (Executive Director – SMBC, Asia Pacific), Nandini Goswami, (Head of Commercialisation Products and Solutions - Visa) and Abhijit Kalita, (Head of Data Science - Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine).

Key highlights of the sessions:

• Panelists shared personal stories highlighting resilience and strategic risk-taking while navigating evolving markets.
• Discussions focused on the changing skill requirements driven by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and technology.
• Insights were provided on career pathways in finance, data analytics, and technology within Singapore’s job market.

• The conversation highlighted the importance of harnessing global exposure and seizing regional opportunities across Southeast Asia.

• Participants gained valuable lessons on career transitions from the panelists' experiences moving between different industries and roles.

Nandini Goswami reflected on the experience, noting, “It was a fantastic experience being part of this session. The student turnout and enthusiasm exceeded our expectations, making the session highly interactive. My advice to students is to always keep an open mind and be willing to explore – being young is the perfect time to do so!”
