The S P Jain Toastmasters Club in Dubai hosted its first Public Speaking Internal Club Contest of the year on 10th Feb 2018.

The event was attended by passionate participants from EMBA and BBA. “It was wonderful to witness the Toastmasters Speech Contest and I think it went much further than the Judging Guide set by Toastmasters International,” noted a Senior Executive in the audience.

Dean Gary supported and cheered on the participants as ever, and congratulated the winners. The event concluded with everyone enjoying pizzas. “Toastmasters continues to grow from strength to strength and Parmita continues to lead from the front,” said Dr Gary.

On 8th February, a team from Amazon Web Services (AWS) visited our Singapore Campus to speak with our MGB and GMBA students sharing the latest technology, industry trends, and job roles. The workshop brought SP Jain a step closer to building a stronger technology-led business curriculum.

A group of passionate alumni joined us at the Singapore Campus on 8^th February, for the SP Jain Alumni Mixer. Sharing real insights into the changing career market and the potential in the industry they currently represent, the alumni shared their study and work experiences with our current MGB and Global MBA students. The discussions delved into various topics including Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, and Technology.

As part of the Visiting Wisdom session at our Dubai Campus, Suresh Lalwani (Head of Expatriate Segment - Business Banking, RAKBANK) addressed the SP Jain students on 7th February. He spoke about the banking system in UAE with special reference to Lending and how banks are transforming with changing market conditions.

Amidst the spirited gathering at one of the top B-schools in the world, SP Jain School of Global Management recently has had the honor to host an eccentric guest lecturer at our Dubai Campus - Ms. Beatriz Atienza. An event, which goes by the name 'Visiting Wisdom' saw the inspiring personality addressing the students about "Interpersonal Relations Management with the Supply Chain Process". Ms. Atienza took us through the challenges that her 12 years professional journey posed in front of her and how she overcame them. She gave us an insight of overall corporate work environment. Something which inspired me the most was when she told us about her tenure with vivid corporate giants, including Henkel, Ford Motor Co., Mazda Motor in different nations. Dominating a male-dominated gamut, she accepted the difficulties and broke all the regional and linguistic challenges.

On 6th February, our Dubai campus organized a guest lecture for the Postgraduate students by Rashmee Raghu (MGB Class of 2017). Rashmee is currently working as a Supply Chain Executive with WJ Towell & Co. LLC at Enhance UAE.

During her talk, Rashmee shared her personal experience while studying at SP Jain, giving an insight into what one should aim for without getting distracted. She reiterated the importance of learning in class, since the students at SP Jain get access to some of the best faculty members and peers.

On 6th February 2018, the final year BEC students had a dynamic and experienced commodity specialist visit them as part of their International Financial Market class. Mr. Paresh Kotecha, Chairman and Managing Director of Richcomm Global Services, shared his wealth of experience bridging derivatives and physical grains and oil seeds complex globally with several multinational trading houses and as an independent global trader. Richcomm Global Services is a Dubai-based international commodity services enterprise, registered with the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) and a shareholder of Timeless Asset Management. He is also the Managing Director of S&P Group Financial Services South Africa and an investment advisor to Almagest SICAV.

On 2nd February 2018, the Undergraduate students at the Dubai Campus went to Ski Dubai, an indoor ski resort with 22,500 square meters of indoor ski area. Ski Dubai is a part of the Mall of the Emirates, one of the largest shopping malls in the world.
